Hi guys.

I am a beginner and looking to buy my first accordion. I have been looking at the Pigini Primavera C175. Is it any use?

It's a button accordion rather than piano keys. Watching others play on youtube it would appear that you have less movement to hit the correct note with a button accordion compared to a piano accordion. Is this correct?

I think it's only a 96 bass. Is that enough or is 120 bass what I need.

I hope to be able to get to a stage to play with other musicians and traditional Scottish and Shetland dance band music.

When I was in primary school I took fiddle lessons for a few years and in this period I tried play a small 48 bass piano key accordion which I enjoyed but I couldn't master playing both the keys and the bass at the same time.

Hi Mutu,
A big like the well known photographers phrase, the best accordion is the one you have with you. I think it very difficult to expect to buy your first accordion and get everything right the first time. You are already talking about musical styles in the future which tend to dictate certain instrument tunings etc. I would always advise a modest first instrument so that with experience you work towards one that suits you in the long term.

I realise I haven't answered your question but I'm sure the Pigini is a nice instrument (depending on age, condition and price). Look around the forum for discussions on accordion choice.

Welcome to the forum Mutu. Pigini Primavera C175 - Nice high quality accordion. If looking at a new one, you've got a big drop in value 2nd hand, should you decide it's not for you...

I think I'd recommend caution too on a first purchase.
There are professionals who have managed a 40+ year career playing the music that you like on a 48Bass.
Also there is no guarantee that what you like/need now will be the same in a couple of years' time.
It's almost impossible to predict. There's the questions around tuning mentioned above and also things like number of voices, weight, 2+4 or 3+3 on the left hand or even a Convertor Bass etc, etc...

Hi & welcome. I don't know that particular model, but Pigini generally make excellent accordions. Button accordions are easier to play fast, in my opinion, so good choice ;) 96 bass is plenty.
