I have recently acquired a Borsini Super Musette SL 4117M which is fitted with a MasterMidi and microphones. I have emailed both Borsini and Master for more information on the Midi and microphone setup but Borsini seems to have gone out of business and Master do not answer emails or FaceBook posts in both English and Italian! Does anyone have a user guide for this model of MasterMidi (see photos)? Can anyone tell me how to power the microphones? The midi seems to work fine but I have been unable to get the microphones to work. I assume they need some sort of battery power? There is an external connector which I assume could be for a battery but I have no idea what the power requirements are or where I could find the necessary cable or connector. Any information much appreciated!

Your mic's will work with a 9 volt power supply or in an amp with phantom power.

I had a Bugari accordion once that worked a similar system.... 5 pin din plug...you'll need to work out which of the pins are active (mine were the 2 outside), then buy the corresponding female din plug and wire a 9 volt battery across pin to connect....i housed mine in a old hoborn tobacco tin and also wired in an attenuator (volume pot) to control any feedback issues.... originally the Bugari had come with a mains transformer but this was impractical as limited lead length... thats why I made the battery power unit.... hope that helps..

Thank you for your replies. I presume the small connector and lamp shown in he first photo are for the battery connection? Is the polarity important or can I connect either way without damaging anything? Is it possible to mount the battery inside the accordion? Jim, you mention phantom power - how does that work? I have a Bose T1 which I believe has a phantom power option. Does this work over the co-ax cable or do I need to make another connection? Would anyone have any recommendation as to what kit to use if I want to upgrade the midi and mic to a wireless connection? Any help much appreciated!

I'd be very careful here. Polarity is important. Figuring out the right wiring and voltage is important. Some of these mic systems indeed work with 9 volt power. But standard phantom power more often uses 24 volts. I would think that the Bose T1 probably delivers 24 volts phantom power. Feed that to a system that expects 9 volts and you're going to fry something (hopefully not the Bose...)
So my advice is to not just "try something" but look for a real source of information on the correct wiring and voltage.

Unless you have the basic electronic knowledge to trace the circuit yourself, I would suggest you contact a firm that does midi and mic installations. If you were in the US I could fit up what you need or recommend a dealer. You might try contacting -- http://scotlandaccordions.co.uk/MIDI Accordions
