So yeah, I haven’t posted a tune in awhile and someone wanted to see the Piatanesi in action. So here’s the Julia Polka, with rough start to video, obviously not up to Jerry’s video standards but, hey, I’m just a random accordion player from Rhode Island don’tcha know….

Well done Tom! Someone has been practicing, and it shows!
Nice piece. :)
Thanks Jerry!!!! Yeah, all that time at the farmers markets sure helps …

When I saw,
"...accordion player from RI playing a polka..."
in the title, I thought, "accordion player from Radio Italia"!😄
Thanks for sharing!🙂

Thanks Dingo! Well, I haven’t yet debuted on Radio Italia to my knowledge… 🤣🤣. My grandparents spoke only Italian, so we all absorbed some, I enjoy it but I’m far from fluent….

Well played Tom. Nice little tune.
Love the beard. Puts mine to shame(y):giggle:
Thanks Pipe! I don’t really know the origin of Julida Polka. Maybe someone on here like George or Ed does, I don’t know. I suspect it might be an old traditional tune from the Czech Republic with English words either adapted or made to fit, possibly by Walt Solek. Everybody and his brother, including Frankie Yankovic has played it. It’s subject is pretty ubiquitous in song writing…..

Champ 🏆 .... you're playing has developed a sweet relaxed feel....nice

I looked it up...Walk Solek, the "Spike Jones" of polka music wrote it and first recorded it in 1948 after WWII. It was a big hit.
