Richard Galliano: Rhapsody In Blue (Gershwin)

I listened to the above recording again after a gap of around 6 weeks. I'm now hearing new things... little bass runs, motifs, effects, big leaps of pitch, mimicry. I can hear the car horns, traffic noise, street lights etc. There's also humour and lightness among the intensity of the story being told. The mix of right hand wizardry with superb free bass and stradella sequences is unsurpassed in my view, but it's all so musical!! The "expressive" and "impressive" combined in fluid harmony.
