Now that I've had my FR3xb for a while now and am gradually getting used to it, I am thinking of buying the Richard Noel sets.
My main musical interests are Scottish, French, Italian, Polkas, and Tyrolean tunes.
I'm wondering if anyone who has used Richard's sets can advise me on their suitability for these types of tunes, please.

I cannot speak for the 3X, but the 8X has some great combinations, but the best results will usually come if you can find and tweak combinations that you yourself really like. :)

I had thought that Richard Noel was a forum member, in which case you could have asked him.

I would suggest contacting Richard Noel. Here's his website link:

In the upper left hand corner of the web page is a link to his e-mail: "Email Richard". Send him an e-mail and ask if he has sets for the FR3xb. He has been programming his sets since 2013. He did them before there was any PC Editor available from Roland. He did it all from the screen display on the accordion! He has to have an amazing amount of patience and perseverance to accomplish this.

If he has any sets available for the FR3xb, it would be good to get them from him. They may not be exactly the tones that fit your musical interests. But his sets will get you to "first base". You can then modify the sounds, do fine tuning, to what sounds best to you. Roland did a good job of allowing a multitude of settings to be tune able by the user. There are just so many choices that I wouldn't know where to start.

Richard is very knowledgeable and approachable for help.
