Scandalli chromatic accordion. Found condition. Is it possible to find out what type of Scandalli accordion it is and from what period? I am considering whether it makes sense to refurbish the instrument. Thanks.
Welcome LKUHR!
It's a fairly early (possibly 1930s) 80 bass, 5 treble rows, and (if true to label) made in Italy by a reputable maker, chromatic button accordion.
It could be useful for busking, folk and popular music .
The buttons have a well worn look, which suggests a lot of use.
It's a bit like asking, is my 1930s Morris tourer car worth restoring?
Essentially, it will be a labour of love!
What is it you want to know?
It looks like it has been painted poorly after it left the factory (with the grill off you see the overspray) and the scandalli logo is painted on. I wouldn’t take it for granted that it is a legitimate scandalli, some details don’t even look Italian to me (but I’m no expert of this vintage) and they could be repair parts when original Italian parts were harder to get in Czechoslovakia
I don't think its a real Scandalli... the grill actually looks like an older Kebrdle more than anything else. Yes it can be restored but every piece on this accordion needs some form of attention. It would be a work of love, because you would never get back the money invested at this level.
