Can anyone provide info on these 2 small Scandallis? The one on the right seems older and the owner said she got it around 1955. It says, No. 605/113.

Its keys and case seem to have yellowed more than the one one the left which says M 613/97. They are both small 41/120 but the one on the left is a bit larger overall.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi, did you ever find out any information on the Scandalli on the left? I have one exactly like it and was wondering myself. Like the exact year and if it had a model name. My number 571-143

Here is mine.

I would say the one on the left is from the early to mid 1950’s.
It has two sets of treble reeds ( two voices), a low and a middle which can be activated either individually or in unison, using the coupler switches. ( I’m unable to see the markings on the couplers of the other accordion but it’s probably the same.

In some models, Scandalli made an early adoption of pressed steel parts (eg, pallets, keys and bass boards) in place of the traditional wood. The one on the left probably has the metal parts.

To my ear, the sound is still excellent!

My own second hand example, of the same vintage, has proved to be amazingly durable in all respects!

:)

Thanks for the response I'm still kind of amazed that a company that is still in business, that you can't find this information. I've checked out Scandalli's history they were pumping out a 180 accordions a day at their peak, I guess records weren't important back then.

Thanks Zymurgy and Dingo! Yup, that's the one like yours. Unfortunately these 2 were among the 6 I just sold, 5 of which were Scandalli (one the Camerano). I really loved these accordions. Scandallis were (are) the workhorses of the the revolution and I'm sure I'll fall into more soon. Although I didn't go with them for my new accordions, I imagine they are still as good. JimD or PaulD will tell us.
