Hello, all. Bob Adamcik here, near Knoxville, TN. Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm a string player (guitar, mandolin, etc.) with a 1980's Hohner button accordion I want to sell. I bought it new about 1986, and virtually never played it. I'm of Czech heritage and also play diatonic harmonica, so I thought this would be fun. But it just didn't hold my interest. I put it in the box and there it has pretty much sat. Except to take pictures, I don't think it's been out of the box more than a couple dozen times.

I've looked at these online and been a bit surprised by the prices I see (higher than I'd expect). But I'm not naive about older instruments. It's always been in climate-controlled home, so I think the reeds are likely fine. No external rust anywhere. But I can see the age-related discoloring on the cloth screen, so I realize the bellows could have aged as well. I don't know about these things and do not want to extend them as I don't know if they become brittle with age. I'd rather leave that for inspection by someone knowledgeable.

Is there still a real market for these? If so, what's a fair asking price? Likewise, should I sell it subject to inspection, etc. As far as I know, there's no one near me to ask about it. Thanks again for help and suggestions. Bob

Adamcikb: It is recommended you show off your instrument on a site called 'melodeon.net' where there are many more diatonic enthusiasts. They get very excited indeed about instruments like yours, in apparently very good condition.
