Here's St. Anne's Reel played on the full sized blue Piatanesi, violin register, two dots in the middle on the left, whatever that means. Dry? Recorded straight to Go Mic. With wool coppola in honor of all the UK and Ireland people on here. Played as if in performance - mistake here and there but just keep going in "get 'er done" style. This one took a while, not as easy as it seems, but now considered "in repertoire." Kesh Jig is next. See "four hours of music by May," above. Thanks!

Thanks for sharing Tom. Your rendition was both relaxed and yet full of rhythm. It had such a natural sound that really embodied an old folk dance. For me, this is where the accordion is really at home, in the old traditional tunes. I also think your accordion looks and sounds beautiful - a refreshing and vibrant sound.

I take my hat off to you.

Wow, thanks so much Stewart! I always liked this tune, learned it on fiddle a million years ago. I bought that accordion sight unseen based on a referral from an Italian player I met on the old “fisarmonica forum” before it went extinct. It was a gamble spending that much without trying it first, but it worked out, and I love this accordion. Not a Gola, Excelsior or anything Super 6, but top of my budget when I was still working. Hopefully I’m set for life…..

Omg, I was going to take “The Train to Vercelli” after “Kesh Jig”but “Gary Owen” keeps running through my head, which I used to accompany my friend on mandolin back in the old country. Anyone here play Gary Owen or have some song stuck in their head that you just gotta play?

Growing more natural and lovelier by the seasons ....

Ditto ! Your playing has really improved since the last time I heard you play ! Good job, Tom !

Thanks guys!!!!! I have good role models!

So, that tune just keeps at my head, guess I better play it (I transcribed it yesterday and tried it). I used to think it was named after some old guy named Gary, but it’s really “Garry Owen,” a transliteration of an Irish phrase “Garraí Eoin“ meaning "the garden of Eoin (St. John),” apparently a place name. Also a signature tune for General Custer, not that it did him much good at Little Big Horn. Anyway, we never played it as fast as what you find on YouTube, being a rollicking jig and all, and neither will I.
