I'm real sorry to be posting this but
Alas....Rob Beecroft of Birmingham Accordions has become tired of life on this globe and travelled to a deeper place...
Great guy...inspired me with kindness and enthusiasm and kept my boxes in good playable condition...
Was planning to go to Eastbourne festival in February but now the shine has been taken off not sure if I can be bothered...
The loss of Rob Beecroft and Alan Young there are irreplaceable...
R.I.P.....brothers evermore

Thanks Losthobos . for informing us of the Passing of Rob Beecroft ...It is very sad news ...I'm shocked .
I met him several times a lovely kind and honest helpful person at the accordion festivals .
I remember talking to him once at the Caister accordion festival many years ago about my Gem XP expander I said I do not really like it , he said he also had one and he liked his .
Anyways a few months later he rang me at home and said Gio do you still feel the same way about the XP module ....I replied YES .
He said he had a customer who wants to buy one of his midi accordions but he also wants to buy Robs XP expander ......by then the GEM company in Italy had folded .......it just so happened that i had a business meeting at a hotel in the midlands that week so we arranged an early morning meeting .........and he bought my XP expander ..........We often laughed about that incident ....from just a casual remark ......I actually Sold Rob Beecroft something .................. God bless him may he rest in Peace, Yes i was also shocked to learn of the passing of Alan Young a fine Accordionist and keyboard entertainer they are both in Accordion heaven playing their hearts out !!!

I never met Rob, but when I was phoning around trying to find an exact model of Settimio Soprani accordion, he was the person who said he thought he might have one but it would take a couple of weeks to dig it out. Sure enough a couple of week later he found it. He posted it, so we never met. Sad news.

Yep Rob was just one of them really nice guys ... whenever I spoke to the lads that worked for him (one from the eastern bloc trying to find his way here and a real good tuner) and they said Rob wasn't a boss to them...he was a father....respect
I used to hang out at festivals with Rob and Alan and we'd drink too much for sure....seems at a cost .
His passing has hit me and put things into a different perspective...these are sad days for the British accordion world ...in the last few years Jack Emblow and Tony Crompton have stopped playing, Alan Young passed away way too early even for his fast life, Emilio Allodi has shut up shop and now Rob has moved on...
Only leaves Harry Hussey from the "old guard" left really and I'm not sure who's gonna be left holding the torch for the accordion next....
Best we all pull out fingers out, practice with passion and rekindle the flame before it flickers away.....πŸ™

Very sad news. I had not seen him for some years but he was kind enough to give me a lot of time and encouragement in years gone by, as well as telling me a lot of great stories. In fact seeing him play in a Spanish restaurant was one of the reasons I got interested in accordion in the first place. My stepson was a regular at Rob’s club in recent times. Rob brought people together and did a lot for the music and musicians. My condolences to those who have lost a loved one; very sad news.
