My daughter and I went to see the oscar-winning 'The Shape of Water' a couple of days ago - I knew I was going to love it as soon as the title sequence started... not only did it look beautiful, but there was accordion on the soundtrack throughout the film!

Highly recommended for all sorts of reasons ;)

Well, I suppose it's kind of a weird film and set in 1962, hence the accordion music...

Nice soundtrack....some one described the movie as a cross between Amelie and the Creature from the Black Lagoon.
Personally I was disappointed but only perhaps because Gulliermo del Toro's last film Pans Labyrinth was such a surreal and terrifying experience ...think Tarantino gets hold of a fairytale set against the Spanish civil war as a backdrop...

Have you got a Youtube link to the soundtrack? The one I listened to didn't sound like accordion.

Is it a soppy chick flick?

Absolutely not! There is a love story, and its got elements of fairy tales/magic realism, but if it were a chick flick, you wouldnt find the daughter & me anywhere near it ;) Describing it as a cross between Amelie and Creature from the Black Lagoon is rather appropriate!

Very odd. Most of the trailers I found on YouTube seem to omit the accordion, although it was a major feature through the entire soundtrack. The accordion comes in around 1:25 on this one:

Let this reply stand in for a stream of profanity. Sounds like Once upon a Time in the West trailers without harmonica or The Third Man trailers without zither.
