I am just playing around with stuff here to see what works/does not. Currently NOT interested in wireless midi solutions, maybe in the future but not right now.

The midi out on my fr4x goes to my bk7m so that's taken.
Ultimately I want to send midi in to the accordion via the usb-b port on the bottom although right now I just trying to see if I even get midi out.
For testing, I have midi wrench on my iphone so that I can see what's arriving and also send basic midi (note on off etc) to the instrument.
I have a USB camera connection kit plugged into the iphone and a midi A to midi B cable between that and the FR4x.

But I got nothing either way. CAnnot control the accordion (play notes) and not seeing anything coming from the accordion via the usb port.
If fact, I am not sure that the phone and/or midi wrench is even seeing the accordion as a usb/midi device.

Should this work? If so, what am I doing wrong?
If not, what do I need to make it work?

Thanks

I believe it can work. I suggest you visit the FR-4X Facebook group and the IO groups (formerly the Yahoo groups) and ask them. I own an 8X and it has a MIDI in and out, not a 2-in-1 solution of the 4X.
