Very rare and unusual PA!?

I have seen this and also saw a cello accordion in the museum in Castelfidardo. I love the sound of cello, and with my bass accordion, on the L register, I get a very nice sound, but cannot go high enough. (It goes down one more octave than a cello accordion.)

To my ears, it sounds neither quite like a cello nor like an accordion.... but then I like instruments who don't suffer an identity crisis but are proud to be themselves ;)
