Recently I listened to a 50 year old recording of Rawicz and Landauer playing the gold and silver waltz and thought that it might translate nicely to the accordion and so I have had a go and added the more popular merry widow waltz in the middle.

Gold and Silver.

Thanks for posting this fabulous waltz. Fond memories indeed.
The tune got a boost here in Scotland when the late Lindsay Ross’s scottish dance band recorded it in 1975.

Hi Rob,
Clearly, like myself, you have an appetite for vintage accordion music. There are a few pieces at
which are midi-sequenced from a sampler but sound quite authentic to me. Enjoy!

Hello wirral,
Thanks for the pointer to another great tune. This one is also well embedded in the Scottish repertoire of those with the ability.
Here’s a link to a player local to me playing it at a club close to you. It’s a ‘live’ recording so it’s not of the highest quality but I think the message gets across.

This version is also entertaining but some of the scenery is a bit distracting.

Thanks Rob. I do like the playing of David Vernon, not least because he has exactly the same accordion as myself! I do like his CD with the title Airlocked and the first song Syncopation in particular. You can listen fo it FOC on Spotify.
I had never heard of Tanzende Finger until Paul deBra did a recording of it recently on the forum and was immediately hooked on it. In actual fact I prefer Paul's version to all the others.

I knew Lindsay when he used to play at the MeadowBank Inn just outside Arbroath. In fact he asked me to play with his band. I was playing trumpet at the time and Scottish Country Dance music wasn't my thing then, so I declined. He was one of probably very few musicians who played a Gola for Scottish music. He composed some great tunes and I still have a book of his original compositions.
