I have a full size stradella which I love, but I also love my tiny 12 bass box. Its so easy to carry around, but obviously it is a very limited instrument. I would love something like this;

Perfect size and fully chromatic! Are they especially rare? I cant seem to find one!

A used FR-1x will also give you free bass.

Thanks fellas :) I'll keep an eye out.... (that weltmeister is a tad out of my price range as a healthcare student, d'oh!)

That Giulietti being sold by Smythe is the smallest/cheapest I've seen, if you can't afford $450 you'll never be able to buy any kind of free bass, unfortunately. Giulietti were an excellent company, btw.

I made a 48 free bass with an old Scandalli by simply disconnecting everything but the 3rds from the bass machine. Took a bit of work.

I didn't know George Secor had made videos, he contributed a few sound files here before. Terrific player and the Moschino system seems the most logical or versatile of the bass systems to me. I might try and adapt another small accordion to that sometime, you'd need to disconnect some of the bass machine and move reeds around too.

Brand new Moschino free bass instruments are going back into production within a few months. I'm not yet at liberty to disclose the name of the manufacturer, but the manufacturing facility is in Italy, and the quality of their instruments is very high. One model ("mini-Moschino") will have a 15.75-inch (40 cm) piano keyboard and will weigh approximately 18 lbs. (8 kg). If anyone is interested in getting on the advance-order list, please send me a private message with your full name, location, and email address, and I'll send you more information.
