Hi All

What's the group consensus on the best ABC notation software? What do you use and what do you think of it?

Best regards

I've been aware of ABC for some time, and never realised its strengths until recently when I started looking at some of the available software. I'm now sold on it as a concept, particularly because of its simplicity, and the tiny file sizes when compared to pdf copies.

After trying several editors on the PC I finally settled on MC Music Editor. The main attraction to me is the quality of the printed output it produces, but it has many other features, such as transposition, and also makes a very good job of playing the tunes.

I've recently been introduced to 'the Craic' for the iPad. This app not only stores, indexes and displays ABC files, but will go out and search for tunes on the internet and add them to your library.

I've used ABC Navigator fairly extensively - 'cos I found it first, and it does most of what I would like passably well.

That's not to say that there aren't better tools, of course - just that I haven't found them yet!
