Accordion Internal Microphone Issue - Repair

6 1.5V AA batteries. (Only works if there is room for them). These will easily last me a year, and I also sacrifice a bit of battery life by replacing them once a year.
I also use an angled jack plug (not XLR but 1/4") with the cable held firmly in place by the secured bellow strap. So far no problems with the contact or with accidental unplugging of the cable.
oh yes, replace once a year like the smoke detector battery..
it is a small price to pay to eliminate that concern.. nowadays
with Amazon AA and AAA Alkaline are less than 20 cents apiece in the USA

and now i have been moving to the LiPo rechargeable 16650 for many things,
and small embedded voltage regulators down to 12, 9, or 5 Volt also readily
available and inexpensive.,, smaller portable devices such as
amps mixers wireless and such for lightweight and convenience seem to
run forever on these.. there is even a same length as AAA LiPo the you
can use to replace the 3 batteries in many flashlights

for the right angle, the GLS brand are a good substitute when the Switchcraft
are not available (or ridiculous price) guessing you make you own cables too..
having anything plugged in to the bottom of the Grille sticking straight down
is just an accident begging to happen !

It works now!

Thanks for helping me get my 960 back!
we are all pleased when there is a question and information and pictures
we can use to actually work with and bend our collective knowledge toward..

and also pleased that you can have Joy again with the 960, which may not
be as glamorous as other legendary models, but is certainly among the most
reliable, well built absolutely Professional accordions ever.. and with that
amazing (what was it called.. the Mangante option fast and low ) key action
and sweet Excelsior sound a joy to play

The 960 instrument jack is under the treble keyboard. On this accordion it's not attached to the front grill, and this spot seems ok. It doesn't intrude on playing or rub against anything. The right-angle cable seems to be a smart choice and I'll go that route. I do think I'll replace the connector, however.

I pulled the specs as John Castiglione had emailed them to me. It's been some time since I've looked at them:

You can see the description of the keyboard in these specs. Here's a poor picture attempting to show the travel of the keys. It is unbelievably short. I normally play the accordion every month or two, and only for less than 10 minutes so I never really noticed. Now with the amp back I can play for hours again and really appreciated the difference between the 960 and the Roland!

i always liked when a builder took the time and effort to
shave/slope the sides of the keys nicely, and give us a better more
unobstructed side to side clearance
