Accordion News

Well, today I had to reject a perfect story.

Anyway, how about an accordionist with a super cool logo who talks about recovering from a near-death experience, bouncing back to play for his fans.....

This was really wonderful. Its nice to see people gather and celebrate music and dance. I watch this and am jealous that people don't do this in my area. Well played.

Well, this is kind of bizarre......

“When you slow down the cumbia, the ghosts start to emerge.”

Pretty much speaks for itself, the accordionish one is here:

Well, how about the general manager of a natural food market known for hanging accordions on the wall, speaking of collecting.....

All this talk about crap has led me to think my "real" accordions will become more and more valuable, as we have seen with the used market. It's crazy. Anyway, for a pleasant romp through the underground mariachi scene in East LA, the news today is to check out "The Music of Jimmy Ojotriste," a book by Arturo Hernandez-Sametier. There are accordions. In fact, in this view of life, musicians are called by their instrument name. "That night the accordion and the bajo sexto played a pickup gig at a party on the south side." It may not be super realistic but it's an interesting look into a little known sector of contemporary American musical society. You can find it free on Hoopla, and probably other services.... I listened to it while raking lawn.

And with all this craziness in the world, here's a pleasant story about an accordionist and an orange from the "real" news:

Enjoy!

It is with a heavy heart, my dear friends and cordeen aficionados, that I pass along this tale of woe and misbegotten gain.

Here it seems that the gang warfare has infiltrated our beloved instrument. You can't make this stuff up. The accordion in the video needs a good restoration but I fear the day will never come.

Read it and weep:

I saw this story earlier today, Tom and thought of your "Accordion News" thread. Thanks for including it. A very sad tale, which shows how even the best of things can be spoiled by greed and stupidity. I hope you find some better news for your thread soon.

This is such a strange, sad story. It kind of starts from toxic music rivalry, but escalates and transitions into gang issues of corruption and gold mines. I'm not a fan explicit lyrics in music, and spend a great deal of time avoiding such things. It didn't serve the famo musicians, it just got them murdered.

On a lighter note, how about a klezmer pickup band from Cleveland, raising $11,000 for Ukraine relief:

Well, if no news is good news, how about a recipe instead? Do you know, for example how to make "Accordion Eggplant?" Never heard of it? Well, you've got your eggplant, your tomatoes, your prosciutto (ham). It's in Italian, don'tcha know, but pretty obvious what's going on here.. .Enjoy!

......and I quote:

"Accordion’s CFO Technology experts work cross-functionally, alongside practitioners from all corners of the firm, to arm CFOs with the appropriate digital solutions needed to implement business process recommendations and capitalize on value creation opportunities. The acquisition of Platform."

Hmmm, not sure how the choice of our beloved instrument ever became the name of a company buying another company named Platform, but I digress. About as inscrutable I suppose as our lingo, so, hey, whatever... " a mano LMM with H in cassotto...."

Maybe they will buy Proxima next.

Haven't checked the news in a while. Start at 3:50. Last review we may ever need. "My pits are sweaty...."🤣🤣 I wonder if it has bluestar in cassotto?
