I have difficulty playing my 25 lbs. Accordion standing up for an hour or so required for performance. I bought the Konig Meyer stand and have used it successfully. You all are correct, it is not nearly as fun as playing without it, but neither are bruises on my shoulders. It takes some getting used to, but I think it's fine. I may buy a smaller accordion at some time, but I don't know if I will get the same sound, and I don't know if it is worth the money. There are no accordion stores here for me to try one.

I will say that one of my favorite accordionists uses a stand as well as a smaller accordion in performance and is always smiling!

It's also possible that I would benefit from better straps. I'm gonna look st those posts.....

if the accordion is in the stand is it totally rigid?

that would take some getting used to I guess

if the clamp could move around independently from the stand (some sort of heavy duty suspension) that would be ideal

Hi Jozz,

Yes, the accordion is rigid in the stand, it does not move. There is a locking pivot so you can tilt it forward or back, but that's about it.

Well, in my opinion there is sort of a symbiotic relationship (if that's possible between a biological and non biological things without getting into the world of fetishes) between a player and their accordion. They perform as a unit and having an accordion mounted on a stand just doesn't seem right. Of course I don't play or switch to multiple units at the same time so I can see a use for them. I too am aging to the point that I can no longer stand comfortably and play for long periods of time with my "big" accordion but have no trouble playing it while sitting. I'm currently searching for a lightweight alternative.

Interesting! Thanks Morne.
