Hi All
Just wondering if anyone in the forum knows about the reeds fitted to a 2002 Bugari Champion Cassotto double octave piano accordion.
Bugari could only tell me the date of manufacture. There is no name on the reeds I can see which might be clue, or not.
Any ideas
Thanks

The Champion Cassotto should have tipo a mano reeds, but Im not sure from what manufacturer they are on a 2002 one. They could be Cagnoni. A stamp with that name would be on the E2 reeds but if it is a PA then the keyboard only goes down to F2 so then there is no marked reed plate. In any case this model has reasonably good reeds (but not as good as the Artist Cassotto and higher models).

Many thanks for the info.
Looking at the spec it would suggest machine made reeds unless otherwise specified and thanks for the confirmation. A lovely instrument to play none the less.

As far as I know the Championfisa and Championcassotto are supposed to have tipo a mano (or TAM) reeds. That means the reeds are stamped out of a sheet of steel and then hand-fitted on the reed plate (just like a mano reeds). You can tell the type of reed quite easily by looking. Never believe specs because (as already demonstrated in this forum) the same model accordion can be fitted with different types of reeds upon request.

Note that I was wrong about the Cagnoni brand stamped into reeds. It seems that when they deliver a reed set they stamp the lowest note. My Hohner Morino Artiste has the lowest note A stamped. So if you do not have such a stamp then you definitely do not have Cagnoni TAM reeds. Sometimes you cannot tell at all, when nothing is marked on any reed plate.
