Anyone here have a Cooperativa accordion. Waiting patiently (well, trying to) for mine to be made.

Nope but I wouldn't mind one.
May I ask what made you go for this make and model?

No but my friend has one made for her about eight years ago. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Very compact. Very tightly made, very precise, very responsive. Italian wet tuning with a very bright, focused modern European sound, maybe sacrificing some of "warmth" you might get on an older box for a more focused tone. Not a cheap instrument but a case where you could definitely see what you were paying for in terms of build quality. I'm sometimes tempted to steal it but it has her name on.

I have a Jolly, 5 row CBA 90 bass with spare reed banks and midi.
I posted pics of the internals on a previous forum and had a magnificent erudite explanation of the works and the reasons for this particular design from its original owner.
It works really well as an acoustic or as a midi accordion - but I still prefer the versatility of my Rolands.
I'm sure you will like your cooperativa when it comes - I can't remember whether you specified a model.

I chose it following a play of one in the accordion shop. It's the super balo, so hand made and bespoke. I spent nearly two hours there in March. Truly lovely tone - one that i have always been searching for, superb reeds, compact, beautifully made, responsive, light and I love the fact that each one is unique. No two cooperatives are the same. It sounded very warm to my ears. I have gone for a classical look though- understated black. Will show some pickiest when it arrives

im confused - sounds wonderful but i presume they make identical models - how would they differ?

Of course they make duplicates but at the upper end of their range they will make whatever you want. Bespoke! And lovely too!

I guess that when they ask 40k for their top model you deserve a bespoke machine.
Does that come with a mortgage plan?

Ah it wasn't anything like that and being in Channel Islands we don't pay vat either so no more than other pro accordion makers.

But, I assume, who had to pay the VATon the new one(s)...

I love paying VAT. It goes to a good cause :?

No VAT on new accordions as I live outside of UK in Guernsey and outside of EU too, so it saves a lot of money on a new a new instrument. Pleased you like paying VAT but not me!!
