I’m a non accordian guy thus far and although I’ve done hours of research trying to understand the nuances and available info on this accordian, I am left wondering more.

So I have gathered this is an “Accordiana” model 305, with 120 bass and 41 keys, as well as 2 left hand switches. What I can’t seem to determine is the difference in Accordiana models. This says excelsior on the bottom in one corner and model 305 in the other. It says Accordiana across the top/keyboard side. But then I can’t seem to determine differences are made by what the more rectangular rounded off grills vs the more oval shaped or single grills, the material/pattern/colors of the bellow tops, the front emblems some being an A, some a V and some an E signify, or the fact this one seems to have some ornate detailing with the red/black/white dot and line designs on both tops as well as under the logo. The case has an adjustable handle, the attached interior “drape”, and dual latches.

Any insight into these differences and what they signify? Is this the same as any other “Accordiana” without the same characteristics, or do those denote different sub models or qualities ect?

For a guy knowing nothing about these I feel like I may be missing some basics that are just assumed for anyone in the know. I’ve read the Accordiana is the student version, but saying excelsior on the bottom and the E Center badge just has me second guessing the accuracy of what I think I know.

Thanks so much in advance I appreciate the time taken to respond when I am a new member just looking for specific info.

Excelsior made most of the accordiana models for over 70 years
and basically parts are interchangeable within each model #
from the first to the last, though some changes were made like
styling and key actions evolving from round aluminum arms to flat
and other such tech improvements

accordiana represented perhaps the best value for your money
in a Student line of accordians, from beginner through graduate
the industry ever offered

accordiana's are well built and rugged, they have good reeds and
sound like Excelsiors and when refurbished with new leathers, gaskets,
tuning and perhaps fresh Bellows, will give a new owner another 50 years
of reliable service

i have a blue and cream 3/4 size one like yours

i loaned it to a friend, lady accordionist, who plays for Contra
dances and other similar like 12 years ago and she still hasn't given it back !

also have a full size LMMH accordiana that is my Winter caroling and other
outdoor go-to box

they are reliable.. must be a million miles on mine and it still answers the call

I have two in the shop, one is a narrow key (17mm) with the 4x12 48 bass setup, the other is a full size later model with LMMH.
