We're having a little contest, running until the end of March. Please feel free to enter - see the thread in the "I Did That" section of the forum. Don't be shy, have a go!
As a reasonable recorder player, as well as viola and accordion player (but of more dubious ability) I very much like Ensemble Black Pencil who I discovered this morning...
Pretty good combination. The accordionist has a comparatively rigid sound compared to the cembalo he is channeling: I think also in comparison to the other instrumentalists the sound would benefit from him doing way more articulatory work with the bellows. One wonders how such an ensemble comes about and finds the style of music it takes on.
I thought it was marvellous, so exuberant and full of life! Wonderful to see such an assortment of instruments playing together, and a great boost to the morale for viola players to see their instrument doing a great job representing the entire string section of this little orchestra! Thank you for putting this on the forum, it has made my day!
