Excelsior Continental Grand

Thanks for the information Alan. See, once again I've received some valid information from someone on the Forum. Just can't say enough about this wonderful tool for those that need help.

That's a beautiful accordion that you've acquired Alan. Sounds like you have a great handle on things. You have a great evening.

Yes, it is a very fine accordion indeed ! Thank you, Dano.

I've done more research, some testing, and talked to various folks, including the manufacturer (Excelsior/Pigini) in Italy. From all of that, I have learned that my AC was built in 1989.
How did you manage to get this exact date? From all what I have heard, it’s impossible to get some information from Excelsior directly, since the information has been lost in a fire or something like that …

I kind of "grew up" around Excelsior accordions and always liked their look and sound, odd that I never ended up with one too.

I emailed Excelsior / Pigini in Italy and they responded promptly with the date. It might have helped that I previously visited them in Castelfidardo. I too was once told that the records were lost in a fire when I inquired about the age of a pre-Pigini Excelsior. So, I'm gueesing they only have records for Excelsiors made by Pigini. I've done a lot of investigation and have developed my own database of age vs. serIal number for Excelsiors built prior to 1960, in case you need to date one of those.
