Heavy storms hit the UK!

Yes I’m in Angus in Scotland where it has been especially bad. We are lucky to live near the top of a hill. But even in our town on the edge of Dundee city people have been evacuated from their homes by boat. Brechin a bit further north has been especially badly flooded.

My husband and I expected we would lose power but luckily didn't, though many locally did. I was even contemplating how feasible it would be to play accordion by candle light, and if eg I would be able to read sheet music!

Playing accordion by candlelight does sound like a way to make the best of things. Keep safe and I hope things improve soon!

A long story, but a workmate burnt down not just one but two houses, successively, due to candles.
The insurance company was not so understanding on the second occasion and made things verrry hard!🤔

It's easily done. Several jobs ago we had what we thought was a "fire drill", but when we got outside we saw the roof was ablaze - a plumber had been careless with a blowtorch.

I'm the sort of person who forgets to blow a real candle out, so I have LED ones, and an electric wax-melter instead.

Scenes of flooded houses in Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire in today's BBC 10 O'clock news.🤔
