Hello and nice to meet you all!

My name is Paul and I’ve been following the Forum from the “outside” for some weeks now having come across it when it was referred to in a completely different forum on classic cars of which I’m a fan.

My accordion journey started many years ago and I was lucky enough to have great tutor called Ken Farren who some on here may know. As often happens in life my playing opportunities evaporated when my career suddenly took off in ways I never saw coming and I just couldn’t fit anything into my life other than work and home life. I retired in 2016 but life hasn’t seemed to slow down!

Earlier this year I contemplated selling my accordion but was told quite sternly that I wasn’t to - by my wife! A few months ago I tentatively started playing again and have slowly gained in confidence and capability. It’s been both a slog and a delight but I’m now starting to really enjoy playing again.

My accordion is a GIULIETTI Classic 57. I’ve been astonished by the amount of information available on the Forum on so many aspects and I’m looking forward to learning and playing in the time ahead.

Best wishes to all,
Paul

Welcome to you!

I too retired in 2016 and yes, life's nonstop bob ever since.

We're grateful to your wife for talking you out of selling out. My wife would never allow me to quit either. After all, I initially captured her heart when she was 14 and I was 16 by an impromptu performance of playing "Lichtensteiner Polka" on a borrowed accordion. That was 51 years ago and she's still cute and I still play.
