Hi, I recently puchased a Hohner contessa II M accordion on eBay and I’m wondering if anyone can help by telling me roughly how much it’s worth? Not looking to sell as I’m keen to learn, I am just curious to find out whether I got a good deal or not. (Also curious as to what the M means, might be a rookie question but I’m just looking to find a bit more about my instrument before I start learning!)

if It is in playable condition it is probably a very good instrument to learn on. It has only two treble voices, so if you continue with the accordion beyond a few years, you may likely decide to look for one with three or four voices.

As far as value goes, I would defer to others on this forum more knowledgeable about this particular model. My guess is that it is worth a few hundred dollars/euros if in good condition. Unfortunately, since it was likely built in the 1950s, if it is not still in tune or has not been properly stored and maintained, it could easily cost another few hundred just to get it back in playing condition.

Ah, thanks for your help! It seems to be in a good playable condition. Good to know I bought an okay one to learn on! Thanks again :)
