Hello there,

my name is Jaime, I live in Illinois, USA, and I love to play the accordion!

One day, a year ago, I decided I wanted to play after watching hours of Russian accordionists playing katyusa, so I got my second hand accordion and I started practicing since them.

It's has been a life changing experience for me since I didn't like to play any instrument and I looked up to musicians with disdain since I was jealous that I couldn't make music as them, since I also enjoy it.
But it turned out I just needed the right instrument to learn, and the accordion was just that. It's the best instrument in the world and I love it. It has changed my life for the best and has allowed me to enjoy music and make other people's happy with it as well.

It also has allowed me to make a better connection with others since I'm bashful by nature so I'm grateful for that.

Currently, I'm learning Irish tunes on the Online Academy of Irish Music. Pretty fun and they were of great help when I first started.

I also have 3 accordions with me now: a Scandalli for children, an old school Italo American and a Petosa, all of them of 120 bass buttons.

Well, that's it. I'm glad to be here and learn from all of you!

Kind regards,

Jaime

Welcome.
I think you will find The Forum, helpful, beneficial, and informative.
There are soo many grand folks on this forum with an absolute wealth of accordion knowledge, along with knowledge of musicianship, and all
that goes with accordion playing. I certainly have found the forum to be very helpful to me, as I am sure your will find as well.
Unfortunately, I am not one of those experts or knowlegable folks I speak of, ---I'm a "wannabe accordionist", and refer to the expert comments.

Your enthusiasm for the accordion is inspiring.
I'm in the Cleveland, Ohio area, and started out a couple years back with the accordion, but then I got side-tracked with the piano, because
of my frustration with not being able to find a good accordion teacher.
I miss studying the accordion, and your post has triggered my emotion, and has inspired me to get back to playing the accordion. With that I thank you. You made my day.

That sounds great! Is it traditional Irish dance tunes? Hope you are enjoying it. I love good tunes played well.
Yes, at least for the basic course.
My favorite so far is Kerry polka. But I like the idea of increasing my repertoire with the rest of the tunes they have there, which are awesome too.

I like Irish music, it sounds cheerful and heroic at the same time, and I have the pleasure of playing in an Irish band every second wednesday of the month. Lots of fun!

Sorry, it took me a lot of time to reply you back.

I was living in Ohio once, and I still miss it.

It made me glad that I inspired you somehow. Please, get back at playing the accordion. The world needs more accordionists around!

Is an instrument that brings joy to you and those around.

Welcome Jaime! As others have said, I love your enthusiasm and passion for the accordion. Your musical story is very similar to my own and I hope you keep up the great work. I just know this forum will aid you in understanding our beautiful instrument more. 😄 (y)
