Hello fellow members!

This is my first post on this board, but i was a quite reader for longer time.

The forum is really very entertaining and interesting.

I have a question to you, perhaps you can give me some opinions:

My keyboard from an Guerrini President, make „wood in wood“, dont have the same space between each keys. Everything is working fine, but optically it could be better.

What do you think?

Best regards!

Under the keys there are "guide" elements (it differs between accordion models) that control where the end of each key goes exactly. At the back of the keys is a hinge mechanism, which in modern accordions is a bracket with two holes (one left, one right) and a rod that goes through the holes. Over the years this may develop some "play" that allows the end of the keys to move a bit left or right. The "guide" is supposed to keep the end of each key in the right place without causing friction. Your best bet for fixing the issue is to check the guide for extra tolerance it may have developed and to move it slightly to the left or right to adjust the position of the key end.

Hello! Thank you for the fast answer! So i need to open the keyboard or bettet i give it to an repairmen? Greets

If they are not scraping on each other I would not do anything unless you are good at diy, because you cannot remove individual keys, the axles can bend if you are not careful, and you can end up with some keys which are interlocking and difficult to fit.

Hello!
The Instrument is like new, nothing is scraping, like i said, only optical.
I am not sure if it is worth, openibg the keyboard..?!

Welcome Mario!

I hope you are enjoying the forum and your beautiful accordion!

I agree with Colin, although it is visually annoying to have the extra space between some keys, it’s a difficult repair, and, in most areas, finding a good repair person is also difficult and expensive. We have an expression here, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!”

Good luck to you! Tom

if the instrument is like new, but the build quality seems poor
regarding the keyboard, is it likely this is (Paul ?) one of those
re-labeled who knows where it actually was made accordions
seen in eastern Europe ?

in other words, not really a Guerrini ?

the President model was a very high end build, and Guerrini
Key action is typically exceptional even on less expensive models

Better give it to a repairer. Adjusting a keyboard is not for a beginner in accordion repair (but it's not the most difficult task either).

Hello!

The accordion is 100% direct bought from factory in Castelfidardo.
I saw it on some other presidents, also of some famous players, which has this special wood in wood mechanic as you see on the picture above.

The question if this is repairable or like some of you said, to leave it like that.

Greets!

If the keys are touching each other then the issue needs to be repaired. If it's just a matter of a small difference in width of the gap I'd leave it.
Assuming that "100% direct bought from factory in Castelfidardo" means the accordion is brand new then I would complain. But even when this is fixed you cannot compare a new one with the ones from "some famous players". The older Guerrini's are in a completely different league from the new ones. The quality, reeds and careful craftsmanship and great care are all gone.

that's what i mean.. if it is a new guerrini it is a fake..
there are no new guerrini's at retail, the factory is closed,
has been closed for quite some time now. The brand and
business entity has not been sold, it still resides with the Family
at the ancestral family home, also the location of the only
and original factory

Hello Ventura!

Your information about Guerrini is not actual, because Guerrini is working again, but that was not the point of my question.
