I now have a couple of tunes on the treble side but other than practicing oompa with my left I have done nothing structured as yet so looking for some good starting points tips etc to help make the next while a bit more bareable it is a 100 bass cheers

You can learn from an accordion instruction manual or you can learn from a teacher. The best bet is from a teacher who can watch for correct fingering and possible bad habits. There are no short cuts in the learning process, that's if you want to get it right. They can be a bit expensive, usually £25 to £30 and hour. I use to go once a month because I'm a pensioner and unable to go every week.

Yes ,but try finding a teacher.... I have found ONE in the Northumberland area and she is a round trip of 60 to 70 miles away.......still may be worth the odd foray for an hour or possibly two.......anyhoo not answering your question is NOT what this reply is for....my suggestion would be (and I know that Big Bad Bob and his M will agree) you could do worse than The Mighty Accordion.............takes you from basic oom and pah to some very nice and understandable bass patterns and with two CDs...:

at Amazon

http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Mighty-Accordion-David-Digiuseppe/dp/0786660570

there is an electronic copy at Mel Bay
http://www.melbay.com/Products/20740BCD/the-mighty-accordion.aspx

but you may forgo the discs .....I am asking them about this.

Cheers

Great stuff problem is there's no CBA players around me anymore and don't really want to pay full price for just bass I'm a scot remember lol have trolled around and found some1 selling The Mighty Acc with cds second hand for £8 all in in Inverness so they are posting it my way tomorrow . I do know a lot of Accordion players near me but they are all mostly full time musicians and there free time is very precious to them we have a local fiddle and accordion club which I am planning going along too so if I can keep up my interest I think I can make something off it and this forum is full of great people to answer my questions

And while you’ve got your hand in your pocket, try to get hold of a copy of The Idiots Guide to Music Theory”, there’s a few second hand copies around on Amazon.

Trying to share playing problems/advice on a forum is very much easier if we share the same terms, it’s not necessary to read it as a novel, just dip in to the relevant sections as an when.

The Mighty Accordion does have a lot of good theory in though..
