I've had some success with curled valves by removing them, cleaning/removing old glue etc, applying some leather restorer liquid then ironing them with a not too hot setting which hopefully goes some way in setting the fibres of the leathers back to their original straight orientation. (Don't know if 'fibres' is the right word). I haven't done this on an accordion which I own or where I can open it up after a period to inspect it. I suspect it is a temporary solution (where 'temporary' is a flexible word) but it may help those who can't easily access a proper repairman.
Ohhhhhh! The cover is see-through! So you basically replace the treble side with a little window that lets you peek at what’s happening. That sounds like a great idea. Any guidance where to get the persepex/plexi/lexan? I imagine you could get it at one of the large home improvement stores, yes?
Try Google ( "Perspex for sale near me").
I've purchased Perspex for various small jobs from a fibreglass boat maker near me all cut to size as I need it.
