All of a sudden the display on the LIMEX MPR 3 does not turn on when everything is hooked up. I tried the zero point key which can turn the backlight on or off, but that doesn't work. Probably something to do with the power supply, but everything is connected. Does anyone with a Limex have this problem?

I have a Limex MPR 3, but I have never had this problem. The display is not required for the rest of the system to work. Does everything else still work with your Limex system? If so, it is not your power supply. If nothing works, it may well be the power supply. That would be easy to check with a voltmeter.

Thanks for the info...I check cable that goes into the accordion and there is power according to the voltmeter. So it must be something inside the accordion. It will be difficult to find repair for this, but for now I'm happy with the accoustic.

The Facebook LIMEX group is a nice group of people that are knowledgeable and friendly...join up nad ask there! :)

I wanted to modify the way the right hand stereo effect worked and make it a straight right/left mono setup, and thanks to one of the members there, I have a new/used screen with a USB connector that will let me reprogram the LIMEX to how I want it to work now.

Thanks, I'll check it out.

On a somewhat related note, my screen started to give me a high pitched squeel and it was of the older serial cable design so I was not able to program it. I purchased a replacement screen from a guy on the Limex group in Germany. It arrived in great shape. The screen solves the high pitched squeel but unfortunately even with the proper USB driver and the PC editor installed on my computer, it can read and access most functions in there, but the ONE thing that I wanted to do most (change it from right hand stereo, left hand mono on 2 plugs over to individual mono signals on each plug for separate right hand left hand control), is greyed out.

With a little editing of the audio I can make it sound from good to excellent, but I won't have the control that I want over the channels. :(

I haven't checked the Facebook forum as I haven't signed up. I checked the 6 pin connector and there was power going in. I decided to open the base side and take a look...lots of electronics, but I couldn't see any loose connections or wires. Honestly, I prefer the accoustic accordion, but the Limex was interesting. I had it installed in the Colombo 8/9/2007, yeah almost 17 years ago. Cost me $4050.50. It was the Limex PRO III Version 2.7 and came with an Alpin Master 32MB & Sound Board 32MB.

George, other than the display, does your Limex system still work? Based on my experience, the display is informational, but not necessary for the rest of the system to work.

You may be able to get some help from Tim Schofield of LimexUSA. midi@limexusa.com 1-800-884-7358 His website is mostly non-functional, but when I checked last summer, he was still in business.

Thanks, I'll give Tim a try. The Limex system does not work at all. My guess is that something inside the accordion has become defective.
