I’ve been recently directed to this site and feel I should introduce myself. I see my name mentioned in several threads. I am a working accordionist and have been all my life. Meaning I have managed to make a good living at playing an accordion. I found my “niche” in the ballroom dance scene although I play for most any scenario. I am into the electronic accordion scene. I never had a Cordovox however. My first venture was with Titano which had questionable electronics but it gave me the bass I was looking for. I then went to the Hohner Vox. At one point I upgraded the accordion to a Morino. I still have that accordion. Accordion electronics was in the infant stage. Then Roland came out with the FR7 which I bought and still have. To be successful in playing for dancers I had to have an external unit for drums. After my long time partner and drummer passed away in 1999 I used the Hohner Vox. Once I got the Roland I jumped into midi and the Ketron X4 I believe. After awhile I used a Yamaha PSR3000 keyboard. After seeing the Ketron SD3 at NAMM one year I purchased that. Out came the FR7X and I bought that. Finally Roland came out with the BK7M. Of course I purchased that. I always liked the orchestral voices of the Ketron. The SD90 came out and I switched back to Ketron and now the EventX. I of course purchased the Roland FR8X and now use the FR4X. And yes I purchased the Korg FISA Suprema, well just because I could. Mine of course was one that had the separation of the right side with the bellows problem which has been discussed here
My journey has been interesting. I didn’t realize I was a techie but I suppose I am. I have always done my own thing. Meaning I program my accordion to suit my style of playing. I’m a firm believer that one should learn to program. You learn about the instrument and its capabilities. I have always shared my programming with anyone who asked. I also have helped anyone who asked for help. I have done “how to videos” on the accordion, the BK7M and the Ketron SD90 and EventX. I can be complimentary and I can be critical. I believe in telling the truth. When the SD90 came out there were definite bugs that I documented and sent to Ketron. Ketron solved the problems. My journey with the Korg started in October 2024. I ordered and paid in full. I received the unit on February 4,2025. I used it on a job on March 4, although it wasn’t quite set up completely but I wanted to “test drive” it with my sound system. Then on March 21, 2025 I decided to amuse myself with on a restaurant job. The next day I did a YouTube video. Went to lunch. I had some ideas about programming and was in the midst of programming when the separation occurred. I was in total disbelief. How could this happen? The instrument appeared to be so well made. It “felt” great. It is so expressive. I was totally into it. I played it day and night. I immediately called the dealer. I messaged both Luigi and Fati. Luigi I have known for a long time. Fati I met at NAMM. I was in total disbelief. It was a Saturday and I didn’t get a response right away. I felt others needed to know this could happen. It was obvious it had to be a defective part. So I posted on the private facebook site. Imagine if that had happened on the job the night before? I later found out mine was not the first to detach. I certainly wish someone who have told me this was happening to others. I would never have taken it on a job. I’m sure Korg will take care of this. I’m not sure if I want to wait months to get my unit or any unit back to me. I’m nearer the end of my career than to the beginning. I do not need the Korg. I just wanted it. Now I’m debating whether I really want it.
Now to NAMM - the Ketron EVENTX - Proxima accordion.
I was asked to demo the Proxima with the EVENTX. I first touched the Proxima the first day of NAMM. There is a possible collaboration of the two companies. I have always thought Ketron should offer a midi accordion. Ketron in my opinion has great orchestral voices. The possibility of those voices in an accordion appeals to me. I do not always use a backing module when I perform. So I said certainly I’d be happy to demo. I only live a half hour drive to the Anaheim convention center. The two instruments worked well together. I did download my EventX settings. There was one problem and that was the octave of some voices. I attempted to change some settings but could not solve the problem so I just adjusted settings on the fly on the Ketron. The live stream had problems. I was not in control of that. I was disappointed in that. However, NAMM is so noisy it is difficult to get a good recording unless one connects directly into the sound system or instrument. I enjoyed the people walking through. There is a “wow” factor with a digital accordion.
In conclusion, I continue to do my thing. That is me. It’s been a fun ride. Still more to come. (By the way I have never been a therapist). I’m just an accordionist.

hi Linda,

welcome

so do you also still have a presence in the physical therapy area ?

part of ketron's reluctance is that waaaaaay back when they were
still in the middle of their aggressive modeling and sampling period
leading to their first mind blowing module, Solton/Ketron DID offer a
MIDI accordion.. but they bit off more than they could chew because
they figured offering the first velocity/touch sensitive accordion
would destroy the competition

but the physical limitations of contact technology could not reliably
support their advanced MIDI design, and the warranty liability
bled the project to death... almost brought them down..

i am not surprised they are still gun-shy of having their
name and reputation tied to another accordion.. do what you do best
is kind of something they learned the hard way after all..

and think of other Italian music companies like Fatar.. way outliving
many of their contemporaries by also focusing on their core discipline
and resisting rocking the boat (or angering customers)

there are a few other old RMMS alumni in here.. this is a very much
more international group than any other i have ever seen, which
is great for variety of knowledge, ideas, etc.

ciao

Well, you have me mixed up with someone else. I stated in my introduction statement that I was not the therapy Linda.
Enough said.

wow

yeah i missed the last line of your post

well the LH i remember posted often on Rec.Music.Makers.Squeezebox
and she apprenticed for awhile with Helmi at the museum then
i lost track of her.. she was very free with advice to players who
had muscle problems or were recovering from accidents

Hey Linda, awesome to see you here!

Guys, we have a true celebrity here and someone that also has been with Roland accordions from pretty much day 1 AND knew Kakihashi personally (like the former president of Roland and creator of the v-accordion!).

I personally am looking forward to seeing some of your work and whatever else you want to share, displayed here!

Very exciting!

I knew someone many years ago now , that had that Solton accoustic electronic accordion with touch sensitivity it was nothing but trouble .
he kept it but never bothered with the touch sensitivity .......................When the Roland FR7 came out he purchased it .
many years later ..it came up for sale as part of the estate of an elderly gentlemen in a care home !!..I knew the original owner .

Hi Linda welcome to the forum i remember you being active on the Roland forum always helpful !!
You are a true Gigger and performer with a huge amount of experience , great respect.. and very talented ..
The type of work you take on not many can do !! and you embrace new technology and get to gripes with it and use it to enhance your music !!
Ballroom dancing is a particular challenge ...........the strict tempo dancers are very fussy tempos have to be spot on !!! if not they will soon tell you !! I do not believe just an acoustic accordion player on his own without accomps would satisfy and hold the evening .for this type of venue .
I learn't a great deal from the dancers with regard to the exact tempo required ...........for the different TYPE OFdance, plus sequence dancing which is very exact !!! with regard to tempo and length of dance . and also the strange names for different dances !!!
I did most of these gigs with my Elkavox 83 and the technics smac 1200 plus I had a singer who I worked with for 30 plus years .
I always wanted a Cordovox but in the UK in the early70's they cost as much as an average house .......
I'm unable to do gigs at the moment because I have terrible Sciatica .....it came on in early January out of the blue with no warning !!
I changed my set up around 2010 to a piermaria acoustic midi accordion with the music tech wireless system ,I note you used the yamaha
PSR3000 keyboard .......I had an engineer make mine into a sort of module ,shortened by cutting and removing the speakers and also the keyboard .keys .!!! for me my present set up is a joy and I'm able to do all types of gigs (when Fit )I've tried most module and owned too many
..ha ha ..........not tried the Ketron but I'm sure it is good!! so much of my styles have been tweaked over the years all my styles are saved to USB sticks with backup usb's . ......At the age of 77 yrs in May my Styles tweaking days are over ............I just can not spare the time or have the interest in tweaking the styles ...............As we tweakers know styles that can sound good at home do not always sound so good in real live situations . aLL MY STYLES SAVED TO USB ARE GOOD TO GO ........THE ONLY PROBLEM IS I DONT KNOW IF MY NEXT GIG IS IN HEAVEN OR HELL Well thats enough about me more I'm sure will follow if the topics NEED my rambling input .
Linda .......thanks for joining you know you are most welcome .................
YOU DID THE RIGHT THING ALERTING US TO THE KORG PROBLEM ........THEY ARE A GOOD HONEST AND LARGE COMPANY WITH A GREAT REPUTATION..............

I have always wondered if anyone else had the Titano Electronic accordion. I grew up playing Titano accordions and was looking for more of a bass presence. This would have been in the late 70s or early 80’s. The electronics were a nightmare. It had a separate box full of small individual electronic boards. I remember having trouble with notes not playing. I’d have to take the box. Take out the screws on one side. Flip it over and lift it up. Then jiggle a board or two. Put the cover on. Flip it over and put in the screws and then see if it fixed the problem. Crumar was the electronic brain. It was before midi.

Hi Linda,
I think most electronic boxes of those days had issues. Most were either cable or connections oriented. My first Iorio had the cable go out twice then some minor $2 part that is near impossible to find today went out and that meant that it was now made in to an acoustic only box.

My Elkavox had connection issues in the external tone generator box. Had it fixed once, and it has been fine ever since.

That was the nature of electronics back then. :)

Need to power on my A series Hohner Elektronium one day.
Fortunately it's already upgraded to gold-plated key-contacts.
Tubes (5 of 'em in the box - warm belly guaranteed 🤭) should be still available in case.
Anything else ...
Let's see
