In the period 2008-2009, a list was made of accordion teachers in the higher music education institutions in most of Europe.
The list is dated around 2007-2008-2009, and was made based on information collected by accordion teachers and information available on the internet (eg websites of music conservatories and teachers lists/photos of teachers with their accordions).
The aim was to have a first rudimentary summary and comparison of countries. The list was discussed on Dutch and German accordion fora.
If you know of any other existing listings on this topic, you are welcome to add information.
Note, the list is dated around 2008-2009, and changes can occur at all time (eg teachers on retirement, replacements, teachers moving to foreign countries, teachers changing system, etcetera).
Still, I think the list is still pretty much up to date. You can check by googling names and pictures of the accordion teachers.
Most of the time the CBA buttons have two colours: whites and blacks, and one can tell immediately.
If all the buttons are white, black or another colour, further info is needed.
The format of the list is pdf.
The list is alphabetically by country, this gives a first impression of the layout systems used per country. At the bottom are some totals and percentages. If the survey would also take more Eastern European countries, Ukraine, Russia, etc, numbers of b-system would be much higher. But since allmost every CBA in the Eastern parts is a b-system, the survey was limited to Western and Central Europe.
The survey was limited to the accordion teachers in the official public higher music education. These teachers are forming the next generations of accordion teachers and concertists.
Additions and/or corrections are welcome.
As you can see, there is missing information for some accordion teachers, we didn't find a picture or had no information.
We also need more information on some countries.
There is very little information on this subject available, and we hope other accordion societies will further do some more detailed research.
