Not an easy tune. I've played a lot of game music throughout my life, and I used to do this one as stride piano back in college. It's a fantastic tune, much more "musical" than the iconic Mario 1 theme, IMHO.

The melody isn't hard, but like most ragtime tunes, the chords and rhythm are a bit more complicated. I would echo everyone else that you definitely need to practice to a click (metronome). It isn't just a beginner thing. I've been playing piano for over 30 years, and I still use it CONSTANTLY. Over time it really helps build a steady internal pulse in all your playing too. Don't listen to the few philistines out there who will say, "practicing to a click makes you sound like a robot". They have no idea what they're talking about. Most of all the great performers out there have spent hundreds of hours on a metronome.

Unfortunately, as a novice accordionist, I *CAN'T* practice to a metronome right now. Currently my only practice space is underneath a nearby freeway so as not to bother the neighbors. During the winter months I can take it up to the university practice rooms (open to the general public), but they're closed now. So I'm trying to do the best I can without one, but it's not ideal.

On other comment, I know you're simplifying the chords a bit, but check them out again, there's a few here and there that really aren't working with the melody.

well as for the chord simplicity, im not very good with playing by ear and this along with melody is the best
I could find. although that being said thanks for honesty as I would much rather hear youre rubbish and
get good criticism to get better rather than your great and destroying peoples ear drums lol

nearby freeway you say? that sounds great fun; I tried playing accordion
in a underpass once and it sounded great.

Good energy and bounce in your playing! And if you've been practicing, you're probably pretty good by now.

Re Mario Bros 2, reminds me of this old tune (somewhat jazzed up in this clip).
See here: ?

Or, à la Fats Domino:
