Hello all,

71 year old returning to the piano accordion after a many years layoff. Past experience included light and easy classics, light accordion standards (Pietro Deiro), light and easy jazz (some things from Palmer-Hughes), lots of folk and traditional music (Cajun, Tex-Mex, Quebecois, Scottish) and a 5 year stint leading a zydeco band, heavily influenced by both Clifton Chenier and Stanley Dural. I’ll have a question every so often but most likely will read through all of the other topics. Maybe I’ll be able to contribute sometime and help someone with an issue.

Thanks!

Ken

Hello,

I am also new to the forum as of yesterday. I signed up because this has been a great source of information and insight as I search for my next and maybe last instrument. I've already decided to go for something nice and new (and therefore costly) so I'll be choosing very carefully.

For background, I started my accordion journey in 2007 with a 26 key, 48 bass Baldoni Combo I piano accordion. I quickly outgrew its limited bass range. In 2009 I moved to a 34/72 bass 3/4 reed Baldoni Combo III that I've been playing since. I was very fortunate to pick up a second Combo III in 2021, and it's been great to have one to play while the other goes in for service. Now I'm looking to move into a 37/96 bass 4/5 reed instrument, and I'm liking the Petosa Artista LMMM. It seems like this would be versatile in the right way for me. I would have gone back to Baldoni, but sadly, they are no longer around.

I'm no pro, but a highly engaged amateur, self taught and playing by ear. I write a lot of my own material, or I work out covers of songs that I like. I'm not trying to play any particular genre, and I appreciate elements of all. An important goal for me is to get material recorded so I can share it more easily. I have a simple set up at home to do this, but the going is slow. It's a lot more fun just to practice and play - it's something different when the mics are on.

Anyway, I'm glad this forum is here, and glad to be a part of it!
