Me neither
I've tried to find out which bands were performing in Nashville on 7th March but that hasn't got me anywhere. The only song I can think of with an accordion riff and a popular cover version is Chuck Berry's 'Memphis Tennessee' but the notes don't fit.

Sorry for being away for a few days. Birthday celebrations and all that. :ch

Well here it is again with a few more notes added:

Code:
K:D

D E F E D E F F E D B B c d c B A

And here's a few more hints, which seem now like they might help better than the extra notes:

 • The accordion in question is an "Irish button accordion"
 • The person playing it is among the better-known masters of the instrument
 • ...and she was quite charming to meet in-person

It's too late to get check this properly but I'll have a guess with 'The Galway Girl'

Sharon Shannon ? My heroine !

You gave enough clues, Jeff, in your last post to start me googling.
Another new song and new artist for me - but well worth listening to
(The only song I've known so far is 'yellow submarine')
I hesitate to suggest that this will be easy as it seems this game isn't easy. I've found a couple of slightly different versions but this one fits best with my memory of the tune. Key is G major. I've not indicated which octave at this stage but no surprises

The notes (sometimes found in another key) match some performances of Whiskey before Breakfast, but also does not match many other performances of the song...

Not what I had in mind - but the right country (if your song is referring to Scotch)
More notes later this evening

It could be Wild Mountain Thyme (Will ye go lassie go). There are different versions, but I did find one by the High Kings that fits the notes !

I listened to several recordings and still cannot find the given notes in there...
Would not have made a difference as I didnt know the song anyway.
I mostly know songs and melodies that are popular on the accordion. (Thats what we are on this forum, right?)

Paul - it's a well-known folk song that I've heard all over and it is sometimes played on the accordion. But if you're not into folk music, then you may well not have heard of it. By the same token, I don't know any jazz accordion !!!

I've got to dash out now but will come back with something this evening :)

There are many accordion versions of it on YouTube, including one by an accordion orchestra. In fact, I first learned Wild Mountain Thyme at a concertina workshop (yes, technically not an accordion, but in the free-reed family nonetheless).

Ive always liked this version of it by The Silencers:

You know, Im actually enjoying the ones here that I dont already know. This game is a great way to pick up some new tunes!

I found the accordion orchestra version and thats the first in which I can very clearly recognize the notes that were given.
It is a difficult game we are playing because there are so many music genres that are played on the accordion, at least somewhere and by someone.

You're right, Paul. We all play very differently and it's unlikely that one person can know everything.

Here's the next one with a couple of giveaway clues :
It's French (surprise) and is in C minor

Blimey, that was quick !
Yes !
Youre turn, Jeff.

I think you and I know a lot of the same French tunes! And Im glad you started with the verse instead of the chorus: G G G G G G G G G G G G

Well heres one that is not French, just to be fair. Dont know if it is an accordion song per se, but I like to play it on my accordion in any case.

Key of E minor, octaves not indicated:

B E F G A B
