Thanks Kep, I appreciate the post. You can all make your own decisions, but yeah, I feel that this video kinda supports my point. Have someone play a solid chord for 15 measures and bellows shake a digital accordion and compare that to how clean it sounds with an acoustic doing the same thing.
Is this an improvement over the Roland? Hmmm... tough. I've seen him do a cleaner run on a 7x in real life, so... cannot say based on a single sample and not a concentrated effort to attain that specific goal.

I must say I am beginning to like these sounds. To my old ears they sound better than anything I heard from a Roland before.
I don't believe that in a blind test I could be fooled into thinking I was listening to an acoustic accordion, but with more bells and whistles turned off (like reverb) it just might be getting close.
Obviously from the last video, posted by kep, the bellow shake is better than Roland (or Bugari Evo) but still not up to the level of the acoustic accordion in the hands of a skilled bellow shake and ricochet player. But for 99% of the players it might just be close enough.
I'm keeping my hopes up for the compact version that is still to come out (and that will have more or less the size one expects from a CBA).

No sense in denying it, it is impressive, but the acoustic is still the king.
Perhaps this is the essence of the whole discussion: we like acoustic instruments for their unique imperfections.
Well, everyone is different of course, and Uwe *is* a very deep thinker. I admire him very much for his playing abilities and technical abilities. Me, I am simpler... I just enjoy and accept each instrument for what it is, good and bad points alike.
It also depends on the question being asked, of course.
- Is the Korg superior to the 8X? In many ways yes, of course.
- Are those superiorities important enough for me to dig in to my wallet? No.
- Are it's disadvantages important enough for me to affect my decision, even if I had the money in my pocket? Yes. Without an editor, even if I had the money, I would not consider it at this time.. and the cost of this instrument is not within my means at this time (heck, I will have spent $20,000 in travelling alone this year... so in a very real sense I could have purchased 2 Fisas had I not gone... lol)
Now, sincerely, at the time, my Gola was both more expensive than the Fisa and at the time also not "within my means", but it was important enough to me to make it so that I did make it within my means.
For me if I want something bad enough... I can (so far every time, thank God), make it happen. I guess that I don't want the Fisa as badly as I wanted my Gola... lol
