So I have been asked (somewhat last minute) if I would be willing to provide some fill music for my churches Octoberfest celebration this Saturday.
I was already planning on playing a Chicken dance (dance little bird) for my mother the school principal's festivities/acts so it was just one of those, well as you are coming and have an accordion could provide some fill in music as well.

But the problem is that I can count the number of polka's and german style music I know on one hand.
Before I say no, or just fill it with my standard set (which the group that I am playing for wouldn't know any different...) I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for simple octoberfest songs that I can use as filler.

Thanks for any help.
Ben

Maybe obvious to some, but is it a Bavarian/German ish?

(Anyanka's post coincided...ish)

And I should have mentioned that an absolute must for any Bavarian themed Oktober event is "In München steht ein Hofbräuhaus". Careful when playing those umlauts ;)

I enjoyed trying to play some of the alpine tunes in your link. They brought back fond memories of watching breakfast TV in Austrian hotels, where the music accompanies footage from slowly panning webcams on the mountain peaks, usually completely shrouded in mist!

Thank you for those resources.
The style of Octoberfest could be categorized as "American Stereotype". Really it is just an excuse to have a fundraiser where the church gets together and drinks beer all night while the kids play on the rented fair rides. That is why I was saying that it really wouldn't matter what I played.
In fact the last one I attended had a guy with a soprano sax playing 80's music to backing tracks...

I just wanted something more authentic than the neapolitan and showtunes that are in my current set.
Thanks again
Ben

Anneliese ...classic ...Muss I' den? ..... ripped off by Herr Presley and turned into Wooden Heart...Tiroler Holzhacker' buam...great and of course as Anyanka says ...In Munchen Steht Ein Hofbrauhaus...and she did it mit umlauts....... :b
