Anyone here have internal mics on their accordion and a slight rattling sound when playing from the treble side. Could this be a loose part on the treble mics. It sounds as though the keyboard has a slight rattle but doesn't seem to be connected to a particular key.
Anyone any ideas? Jim D - looking to you for an answer here.

(1st) What do have for an accordion. (2nd) Factory mic's or aftermarket. (3rd) have you looked under the grill and (4th) are they condenser type or crystal ???

Hi Jim
This is an older Vignoni compact S, 5 reed, top of the line for its time (1998). it has factory fitted midi and sennheiser either MT04 or MT06 mics built into it. I haven't looked under the grill because it also has Q select midi interface on the grill. it all seems to be working though!

It would seem you have condenser mic's and it's unlikely that they have come loose. Sounds more like loose wiring, loose midi board, or connectors. The grill will have to be removed. I must caution you that before you come in contact with any electronics or midi boards inside the accordion you must ground yourself to remove static electricity.

Thanks for the advice Jim. It makes a sort of metallic sound, like a loose spring except it obviously isn't that because no one key is producing the sound. It isn't an offensive sound but it irritates me. It's a lovely old (heavy) Vignoni S compact played by Giancarlo Caporilli. He brought it over in 1998 to do a concert. I even have the CD he made playing this particular accordion. it has a lovely tone (not as good as my Cooperativa) but still very mellow! If the sound is under the keyboard, I think that will be beyond me!

I really think at this point that you have a small board that has become unglued and is under the grill. If this is the case it can be reglued simply. Putting it off may result in more problems in the future.

On further inspection under the grill, everything on the grill side which contains electronics seems to be held on by black tape but the wires are so short, I can't pull the grill out far enough to secure them. I think a trip to the mainland ot have it fixed is probably going to be in order
