Hello people, I’m trying to install new felt/leather pads on the treble keyboard pallets of my beat up Hohner Maestro CBA that I’m trying to restore for fun. So far it’s been like a puzzle figuring out how to disassemble the treble section. It looks like I definitely have to remove the register switches but they are connected to the register mechanism inside of the accordion. Just wondering if anyone on here is familiar with this model and if so get some tips on how to remove the register switches

Here are some photos:

I’m thinking of pulling the rods thru the red circular padding, not sure though?

To me it seems like pushing the rods through the padding is the way this was probably assembled, but of course by now the padding may have hardened and if you pull the rods through it may no longer seal properly, leaving you with an air leak...
Some parts of early (and even recent) accordion construction and assembly were not designed with later maintenance and repair in mind.

Yeah that’s what I suspected. I may have to replace them once I’m finished.

By any chance can you tell from the photos what type of glue was used for those circular paddings?

Thanks!
