This novel tells of a cello prodigy who loses his gift at an early age due to his own inner turmoil. He becomes a teacher of music and through a set of not unusual circumstances….well you can, I’m sure, imagine the outcome.

Salzman has a good feel for music making, performance and teaching, and the writing is interesting and personal, albeit in a somewhat archaic manner. It kept my interest and I am recommending it here for you. I found it “free” on Libby.

I’m going to check out his other books, just sayin’.
