if you have a bigger repertoire you're likely to tick off more requests now and then

on the other hand: shopkeepers hired us for a 3 hour stint during christmas shopping, we managed that with 6 songs. worked out perfectly

sometimes you gotta make due with what's at hand
 
(In my experience, busing with an accordion is advantageous, compared with other instruments I play.)
Mine too. Buskers with guitars are ten-a-penny (that's not to say some are not excellent) and as a consequence the 'novelty value' is limited.

In summer holiday locations I have done particularly well with visitors compared to guitarists in the same area for instance.

But, it's just a bit of fun for me and I wouldn't want it to be anything more.

I guess that buskers with guitars are the proverbial "dime a dozen " so they're slightly more valuable on this side of the pond. ?
