Love him or hate him, may he rest in peace. Here he is with our instrument, not his more famous consort..... As Ventura would say, ciao, or more addio....

Carnival of Venice may be more appropriate, but I'm sure there are many who think arrividerci. Maybe our Italian friends will chime in too....

Best I could do on short notice.

Maybe he could get some help from the Democracy, Nature and Love party. I know I should be working on Summertime or my Crucianelli but this is too much fun! Well, the hands are improving but our beloved accordions still have a way to go.

I have perhaps an ignorant question, but who is this Silvio? The reason I ask is I have inherited from my grandfather an accordion and the name plate on it says Silvio Soprani. Is this a different Silvio? I have attached a couple images. Thanks so much for any information you can provide me.

Here he is:
And here:
Personally, I liked him.
I don't much care about his alleged sins: he had charisma in spades and stood out above the crowd.

Thanks for the reply! Of course I have heard of him, seeing the reference here on an accordion thread had me confused!

Great showman and entertainer, but a terrible sheet-anchor on Italian culture and governance .
I was in Italy at the time watchng the country slide backwards.

By remarkable good fortune, Berlusconi escaped being prime minister during the COVID-19 epidemic and the ensuing fallout over the way Berlusconi's successors have since been accused of mishandling the emergency (although he did himself suffer a case of the virus).
