just curious as I can't seem
to find much about this one
I hear serenelli is now Chinese

a piece of metal saying made
in italy

Yep, very legit. Modelled on Scandalli accordions of the period, like this 1940s grey one I used to own:

Does it have faired-in feet on the bass end, like that Scandalli

or maybe more like my Casali button accordion, which I suspect may have been made by Serenelli?

Nice instrument!

Perhaps the metal plaque (only) is the bit actually made in Italy?

Seriously though, it looks to be from long before the Chinese began making accordions

That is the essence. Find any instrument thats over 60 years old and says made in Italy
and you can be pretty sure it is made in Italy and even a lot more sure its not made in China.

Fifty years ago you could already not rely on accordions being made in Italy or Germany according to what their label said but they were definitely not made in China.
