Hello All!

I am thinking of purchasing this Settimio Soprani Piano Accordion (120 Bass). Does anyone know what Settimio Soprani Piano Accordions are worth? Are they built well? Are they popular? Are they a brand to avoid? Any information you know about this brand is appreciated. Thanks!

Settimio Soprani made some very fine student and professional model accordions from the middle 40's thru the 70's. The box you have pic's of here is pre 40's and any work on it would far exceed its value. If I had it in my shop I would sell it for parts only.

I would be surprised if this was a pre 40's instrument ,too many register options. The instrument looks a lot like a early Soprani "Ampliphonic". these often had very nice reeds. It would really need to be examined to guess its condition and what features it might have.

The waterfall keys - pushbutton shifts - sordina - and bellows lock gives this one's age away. Many accordions in the late 30's and early 40's had 4 sets of treble reeds. Accordions with LMMH would give you 11 shift options and LMMM could give you 13 shift options.

I only seem to see waterfall keys on older accordions. I personally do not like the looks of them, but I also find that a fingernail seems to get caught in them easier. That hurts. Is it safe to assume that waterfall keys were early 40's or earlier?

Waterfall keys were the norm on some makes up to the late 40's and very early 50's.

Here it is on the cover of one of my favorite albums:

I just looked this up on you tube and listened to the album. It is on there. I never heard this before so was good to hear. Thank you. Zevy I see you have a beltuna listed as one of your accordions. how do you like it? does it have the sound of a dallape like accordion for Balkan music?

<FONT font=Garamond><SIZE size=125>I dont have a Dallapé to compare, but it is a straight type of setup; hence the Balkan description.
The Beltuna is good, although I just blew a gasket - I seem to do that all the time. I hope to fix that myself soon. Otherwise it is an all around very good box.

The Artist 6 indeed was a Super 6 with a different badge.

Thanks everyone for your opinions! I decided not to buy it. I went to look at it, but just didn't like it.
