Soundboard felt glue

I am working on an older accordion (mid 50's?) and the old soundboard glue holding the felt on has failed. My plan is to refurbish using the existing by cleaning off the old glue and re glueing. Wondering about the hazards of doing this and also if there is a glue that works best. I can't tell if the board itself is steel or aluminium but I am guessing aluminium.

I've used contact/impact adhesive to do that:

"Bostik Contact Adhesive", "Evo-Stik multi-purpose impact adhesive", or "Evo-Stik 528 instant contact adhesive"

I squeeze some onto a saucer and apply it with a small paint brush, watching out for trailing glue threads.
Don't put it on too thick, you only really need to stop the felt moving around. and I only apply it to the soundboard - you don't want it soaking into the felt and turning it hard.
It does leave a small amout of time to reposition the felt, maybe around a minute.

Also works for sticking on pallet facings.

Perfect, that makes sense. I only found out about this while tuning several notes at the same time. D#, E and F make a helluva chord not meant for my ears.

I will be sure not to put it on too thick or alternatively, miss any areas resulting in above said chord.

Probably worth checking if the bottom of the reed block is flat too
Apparently best done with a metal straight edge, eg. metal ruler.

The cure is a glass plate with some fine sandpaper on it.
