Hi

Heres my solution to the sticky plasticcy bass board problem.

I found these little gloves, by a lot of googling, from a supplier in USA (Shipped to England, made in China - what funny world we live in!)
They are cool and minimal and hardly noticeable. Admittedly, its one for the ladies, sorry chaps, and as a fashion statement for the over 12s they might leave something to be desired. They come in all colours. I think they are better than squidgy stockinette fingerless gloves or chunky winter mitts.
I can give you the link, but Im not sure whether it contravenes the rule on commercial advertising.
Two pairs plus shipping to England cost just £10ish.

Hope it helps someone
Marj

I NEED a pair of those. I have a 120 bass and sliding from top to bottom quickly can be a bit tricky in the heat/humidity!!! Was thinking about getting the marching band type but thought they'd get too hot - these would be perfect!!!!

If you're not allowed to share the link, can you share the brand and what they are called so I can search for them? Or send me a Private Message!!!

thank you,

Brandy

I have taken a worn-out work glove and cut the fingers off of it.

Sorry, Marj, wished youd asked: You can get a variation of these for £0.99 (or less) inc postage from China... put fishnet fingerless gloves into ebay search. Then sort by lowest price inc P&P...
And if you dont want to wait for them from China, UK sellers on ebay sell a pair for £0.99 + £1 postage.

Selection here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=fishnet+fingerless+glove&_sop=15

I bought a pair last year, but I found a better solution (for me): I got an adhesive paper guaze tape and stuck two strips in the right place on the bassboard. I dont leave it behind anywhere, either. Served me well last summer and so far this year too, and it is semi translucent so you dont notice its there. I know what questions coming next... but I had these from my dear old uncles (rip) medicine supplies when he was in hospital... and I cant find them for sale anywhere... yet.

Thank you Soulsaver. You've solved it for us British Folk. You must have spent even more hours. I had no idea what I was looking for and found it on 'Images'
I was on the point of buying your gauzy stuff. (re other thread) Didn't know it was something special. Good ol' Uncle.

Bet you were relieved to find another solution! When you run out, it's back to the fishnets.

BrandyD. They didn't have a brand but I can send you the link.

Thank you for the PM. Know that I know what they're called - thank you Soulsaver - it makes it easier to search for!

thank you all!

The site shows a right hand with the glove which is supposed to be left hand...
For 30 euro I think I can ask my wife to make me one (and one for her as well).

Good spot. You just cant get window dressers...

OMG, Soulsaver, if someone approached wearing that thing, you might fear you'll get your money's worth!

I like the fish net ones!!! As Jim D said: "If you dress when your performing they can be had to match". But what if we don't dress when we perform - we'll get more attention that way!!!! LOL

Thank you Firebird and Soulsaver! I bought 2 pairs of these mesh gloves! I only wear it on my left hand. First time I've played for 4 hours today with it on, no blisters on my palm and my hand glides smoothly and effortlessly on the basses. Thank you!!!!!

Tried it out on El Cumbanchero - which requires my left hand to slide through the bass runs quickly. Works perfectly!!!

thank you,

brandy
