Some time ago, there was a longish thread on the problem of sweaty forearms sticking to bass straps and impeding play in warm conditions. A side issue was a similar problem caused by deteriorating leather of the bass strap.
At the time, I suggested the sewing of a stiffened sleeve of strong cloth to slip over the bass strap, and this would virtually eliminate either problem.
Unfortunately, the forum at that time couldn't attach an image from one's iPhone to illustrate the suggestion.
But now it can!:)(y)
So herewith a couple of illustrations:
(I'll post them separately so as not to overload things)

This first one is of velvet on a 17 inch keyboard Sonola:

With the help of my wife, I have manufactured and fitted such sleeves to six of my instruments and they work perfectly!:)

At the moment, with temperatures in the mid 30s you should design a sleeve for the whole upper body.:)

Glenn,
It's winter here at present, but I can sympathise as we have temperatures into the middle 40s (C) every summer: hence the sleeves ? .

Good work, Dingo, thanks!

Hi Dingo, I have a similar problem over here in Perth during the summer and also find that it's difficult to slide my hand up and down the bass box when the heel of my hand gets a bit sweaty. I use a 'glove' made from ladies short nylon socks - just cut the toe end off so that 4 fingers can poke through and make a small hole at the side for my thumb. The only disadvantage is that my hand gets a bit warmer during summer, although during winter that's a bonus! I've heard that ladies long evening gloves also work well, but I couldn't find a size large enough for my hand.

Very nice solution for bass straps that do not come with velvet from the factory. I have padded straps on all my accordions.
A problem I have had all my life is the sweaty palm of the hand or wrist on the bass cover plate of the accordion. The hand becomes harder to slide up and down when the plate (wooden or metal, covered with celluloid) is affected by the sweat. Any solution for that?

I've found that fingerless fishnet gloves work well

£1.58 - Amazon product ASIN B00BXJ61I2
Unfortunately when they arrived they were neon pink instead of black, but for that price I could try a different supplier.
Good idea. Of course, that page on amazon does state they are pink even though the picture shows them as black...

I can only see pink mentioned in the 2 latest reviews, one of which is from me :)

I've just ordered

which states 'black' in product details, but I'll see what turns up.

Nice one Glug, like it !! I won't need to make my own glove any more - and have a choice of pink or black.

The glove idea has been around for a long time.
