The only gig/jam around is old timey fiddle/acoustic type music and I’m the only accordion, life is great! I’m having a blast playing with those banjos, guitars, fiddles, mandolins, and upright bass. This is my end of my second year playing with two different groups and have been so welcomed in. It takes a couple years of learning a different genre of music and style of playing back-up, great friendships are made and this summer I’m playing with the old time fiddlers at their week long camp. Hopefully I’ll meet some other box players! I guess what I’m saying is find a group to jam with, it will light your fire for playing and practicing! It might not be the genre you started playing the accordion with, but “Lady of Spain” was over-played anyway!

Around Christmas when Shane MacGowan of the Pogues died, I went to a session of about 15 people with my accordion.

The host wanted to play “fairytale of New York” and i was able to back him up because i knew the melody and could play it on accordion. It was awesome
